What to Do When a Child Comes Home Crying

Any moment from now, your child will be coming home. It is past school time and by then, the school bus is just near. As you wait for your child to open the door and run to your arms, you notice they are in distress. You feel the tears coming from their eyes and you hear the sound of their cries.

What would you do?

  • Crying is the body’s way to let our pent-up or intense emotions. And while hugging and reassuring them that things will be alright are go-to actions, as a Child Care provider, we have seen different actions you can take to help your child rise from the encounter.
  • Take time to understand the cause of distress. Let them open up to you. Ask simple questions that can help them verbalize their concerns. Instead of solving their problem immediately, try asking them about what they would do instead. Explore the solutions together and how you can prevent the situation from happening again.
  • Raising a child is one of the toughest jobs in the world – but it also is the best source of happiness. You are not alone in raising your kid to be the successful person they want to achieve. You have the support of a reliable Child Development Center in Liberty Hill TX.
